A duplex penthouse has hit the rental market in Philadelphia, and with its $27,995 per month price tag, it’s the priciest available in the City of Brotherly Love.
The superlative unit spans 4,775 square feet across the 20th and 21st floors of Philly’s Rafael Vinoly-designed rental building, the Atlantic. The 22-story historic Beaux-Arts building was formerly home to the Atlantic-Richfield Oil Company and overhauled by Vinoly in 2018.

The building is “extremely rich in history and details,” said listing agent Andrea Edrei of Serhant. “It has that timeless elegance.”
The developers, Post Brothers, “really kept the architectural integrity of the original building,” she added. And in the penthouse itself, “you’ve got soaring ceilings [and] a lot of original details, coupled with everything you would want and expect,” from a high-end home, Edrei said.
The building offers its residents a rooftop pool.

The home is one of a spate of rental listings priced over $20,000 that have hit the market in recent weeks, including another in the same building. In the past, Philadelphia’s luxury rentals typically had a roughly $15,000 a month cap when it came to pricing. “That was what we knew to be the high end,” Edrei said.
“When we were able to achieve those [higher] dollars, the rest of the market caught up,” she said. Philly has “amazing local business, wonderful sports teams. You have the demand for people who want a best in class home to live in.”
The nearly $28,000-a-month four-bedroom penthouse has details like herringbone floors and oversized windows, alongside museum-quality overhead lighting and smart toilets, according to the listing.
There’s plenty of outdoor space available for residents to use.

The hub of the home is its open-plan kitchen, dining and living space. Plus there’s a pantry, an office and a wraparound private terrace with panoramic city views.
A floating staircase with glass railings connects the floors and leads up to the bedroom level. The penthouse also comes with its own separate studio apartment, ideal for guests or staff.
The building “really showed Philly what true luxury living could look like,” Edrei added. “Historically we’ve had a very impressive suite of people who have called it home,” from entrepreneurs and CEOs to high-profile athletes, she said, while declining to share any names.
